SmartYield™ brings together site characteristics, historical climate data and crop biological requirements to assess crop suitability and yield potential.

Assessment methodology

SmartYield’s proprietary Yield Discount methodology quantifies how individual site and climate limitations may affect crop yield. These effects are combined into a Total Yield Discount, providing a consistent basis for suitability classifications and estimated potential yield.

Assessment results are derived from defined scientific relationships and calculations, rather than AI-generated predictions or machine-learning models.

38 variables that may influence crop yield

The assessment considers 10 site variables and 28 climate variables: seven climate factors evaluated across four crop growth stages. This connects the conditions of the site with the changing biological requirements of each crop.
